1996 Camry 5S-FE Turbo Install

Day 1

No head

After head removal

Parts removed

On day 1 of the turbo installation, we replaced the timing belt, the water pump, removed and cleaned the cylinder head and removed other pieces that would need to be out of the way for the coming of the turbo! The head gasket was found to be be blown, so it's a good thing we were changing it anyway! We performed a compression test on the cylinders and found pretty good compression on each of the cylinders (180 - 210 PSI across the 4 cylinders). The pictures above were taken after the head was removed and some of the front of the engine was gone. We also removed the stock head bolts and installed ARP head studs.
